Walnut Springs Press March Madness Sweet 16 Questions-Angie Lofthouse

Angie Lofthouse is our newest member of the Walnut Springs Press family. The Defenders of the Covenant brings something new to the LDS market with is masterful combination of Sci-Fi/End of the world with LDS doctrines.

What is your favorite line, scene, or character from one of your books and why?
My favorite character is probably Derek Halstead from Defenders of the Covenant. He's such a nerd and yet so cool at the same time.

Why do you write in the genre you do?
I love science fiction and fantasy because the only limit is your imagination. I love being able to explore new worlds!

What are you working on next?
I am over 350 pages into another "Defenders" novel called Shattered Skies. I hope to hit page 400 by the end of the month.

Do  you map out your stories beforehand or do you let the characters direct the story?
I have to have at least some idea of where we're headed or I can't get anything done. But I don't plot it out too much.

When did you know you wanted to be an author?

I knew when I graduated from college. I was already married and expecting my first child, so I'd pretty much achieved all my goals at that point. I needed something new to reach for and dream about, and writing was it.

How do your beliefs shape how/what you write? My beliefs go into everything I write. They are too big a part of me to do otherwise.

What's the last book you finished?Variant by Robison Wells

What's on your nightstand now?
Monarch by Michelle Davidson Argyle, plus a lot of things on my kindle.

Which author (dead or alive) would you most like to have lunch with?Connie Willis. She's my favorite!

Book you read that you wish you hadn't.Animal Farm by George Orwell

Book that changed your life.Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card

If they were to make a movie of your favorite book, who would play the leads and why?Well, they already made a movie out of my favorite (Lord of the Rings) and I think the leads were all fantastic. Especially Sean Astin as my favorite character, Samwise.

Book you most want to read again for the first time.A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L'Engle

What book would you give to a child?I give my children books all the time, but I suppose the one I want them to read the most is the Book of Mormon.
