The Missing Lesson

Since April 2018 general conference, the word “ministering” has been on the lips of every member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As revealed by the prophet of God, the next step in hastening the Lord’s work is to shift our gospel focus from external to internal—to use love as the motivation for all that we do.

How do we raise a new generation of children to be ministering disciples of Jesus Christ?

One of the biggest challenges is a key that has been absent for so long, most of us don’t even know it is missing. What is this essential key, this missing lesson that keeps us from embracing charity? It is a lack of emotional regulation and emotional literacy. A serious deficiency in these skill sets impacts almost every area of our lives—including how we interact with our children on a day-to-day basis.

The Missing Lesson breaks down these important concepts into concrete, real‑life applications, focusing on how to teach our children (and ourselves) how to manage emotions. This book helps parents build a solid foundation for their children so they can grow into emotionally healthy adults who live and act with charity.
